IT Apprentice – required for an immediate start

Energy Coast UTC is a 14–19 college located on the edge of the Lake District National Park in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The college was created through a partnership between industry and education, delivering academic excellence alongside a world class technical and practical education in our brand new, state of the art workshops, ensuring all our students excel in employability skills and work directly with employers on a range of projects. Our industry partners include the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Sellafield Ltd, Morgan Sindall, the University or Cumbria and the Royal Navy. Pastoral care is also very important to us and, as a small college, we ensure we know and support all our students and staff well.

In June 2019 we were inspected by Ofsted and graded Outstanding in every single area. We were one of only 34 schools nationally to be graded Outstanding in 2018-19 and only the second UTC ever to be graded Outstanding.

Our aim is to prepare students to meet the demand for highly skilled engineers and civil engineers in Cumbria and the world. We do this by ensuring that every student maximises their academic potential, experiences a wide range of enrichment activities and secures industry standard technical qualifications.

We seek to appoint a full time IT apprentice to assist in providing effective IT support for the whole school. The main duties of the role are:

  • To monitor the helpdesk ticketing system, completing support requests where appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • To effectively support the 1-1 device strategy (iPads) across the UTC.
  • To provide first line support to students, staff and parents for hardware, software, audio visual and online services.

The vacancy is a full time position to start as soon as possible, with the successful candidate working towards their apprenticeship qualification. We are able to offer some flexibility with the level of apprenticeship for the successful candidate. The wage will be the apprentice wage, as per Government guidelines.

If you believe that this is an environment where you can thrive, develop and substantially contribute to an exciting future for the Energy Coast UTC then you are encouraged to explore our website for more information.
