Year 10 Work Experience

During assembly, the Year 10 students were briefed on expectations and information regarding their work placement week commencing 08/02/16.

All students with a place have received a letter explaining working times, dress code, etc including contact details.

Stilecroft Residential Home visit the UTC

Chapman House have started the New Year with a visit from Stilecroft Residential Home. Five of the residents came for a tour of the UTC and ended the visit having homemade tea and cake with the students. This visit was organised to mark the beginning of Chapman House outreach plan for forthcoming years at the UTC. We plan to visit Stilecroft and other Care Homes in the local area to bridge the gap between generations and share our vision with the residents of West Cumbria.

Year 12 and 13 Applied Science Employer Engagement

Friday 16th October saw our Post 16 Applied Science students working with representatives of 3 local organisations to develop their assignment portfolios. Each student had a range of questions for the employers which looked in depth at the way the organisations worked and the science behind their products.

 

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Neil Tyson and Ruth Foster from Nuvia, Andrew Douglas and Sam Brown from James Walker and Mike Tinnion and Ian Black from Iggesund for giving up their time to work with the students on this assignment.

Royal Navy Submariner Presentation

10th December 2015

The Royal Navy visited the College again at the end of last term to provide a drop-in session for our year 12 and 13 students and a presentation to year 10 and year 11 students.
