Recycling Initiatives

Driven by our Eco Energy Group, led by Mrs Heslam, we are participating in two recycling initiatives:

The Big Battery Hunt is a nationwide battery recycling initiative funded by Duracell. Its aim is to encourage young people in schools across the UK to think about the importance of recycling, and then challenge them to collect as many used batteries as they can. The aim is for each student to contribute to an overall total of 4 million batteries being recycled. All Year 10 and 12 students have been given a small, cardboard collection box to use to collect their used batteries. The box should then be returned to Student Reception at break or lunchtime. Please note we cannot accept leaking batteries.

We are also collecting old and broken pens and board markers to send them to be recycled. Once we get a large box full of pens we will take them to Ryman's in Workington who are acting as a collection point. Please encourage your child to drop their old pens into the collection point at Reception.
