Finalists were selected based on the strength of their student Engineering projects, their Engineering curriculum and how students are prepared for careers in Engineering.

The Energy Coast UTC had a wealth of evidence to support their bid including, ‘The GreenPower Challenge’, winning the Royal Navy competition - ‘Operation Antarctica’, a trip to CERN, and providing STEM activities to local schools.

A team of four students and a teacher will travel down to the Big Bang Fair in March to compete in a final complex engineering challenge with five other schools.

‘We are immensely proud of this achievement. It validates all efforts of our staff, partners and students to deliver innovative Engineering specialist education.’

Cherry Tingle, Principal

"This is a fantastic achievement for a school which has been open less than three years, and a tribute to the hard work of the staff and students. Good luck to the team for the final in March."

Barbara Stephens, Chair of Governors
