Year 12 and 13 Applied Science Employer Engagement

Friday 16th October saw our Post 16 Applied Science students working with representatives of 3 local organisations to develop their assignment portfolios. Each student had a range of questions for the employers which looked in depth at the way the organisations worked and the science behind their products.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Neil Tyson and Ruth Foster from Nuvia, Andrew Douglas and Sam Brown from James Walker and Mike Tinnion and Ian Black from Iggesund for giving up their time to work with the students on this assignment.

This is what some of our students had to say:

"James Walker were able to answer all questions with ease, showing their skill and knowledge in their profession. We got really in-depth answers to our questions which will have a big impact on my assignment."
William Watson Yr 13

"I really enjoyed Iggesund coming in and helping me with my assignment because they gave a really informative and interesting presentation about their company. As well as directly telling us information, they also interacted with us by answering our questions. They covered the key information we needed for our assignment, and also explained to us how the company works. They also brought in some of the products they help to make, so it was interesting to see how much of a big company they are as they make packaging for companies such as Victoria's Secret!"
Ewen Fraser Yr 13

"I enjoyed the presentation today that Nuvia prepared for us, it was very informative and this will help with my assignments. I feel the visit was very beneficial and not only benefitted me with my work but also helped me in applying for jobs in the future, as I know I have a wider knowledge of the company and their policies."
