Schools have a requirement to ensure:

  • those people who are ill stay at home
  • that robust hand and respiratory hygiene is in place
  • that enhanced cleaning arrangements are in place
  • they actively engage with NHS Test and Trace
  • they consider how to reduce contacts and maximise distancing between those in school wherever possible and minimise the potential for contamination so far as is reasonably practicable.

UTC September Reopening Letter

Dear Parent / Carers and students,

I hope you and your families are safe and well and that you are enjoying the online lessons we are providing. Engagement in these lessons has been excellent for the vast majority of students which is good as this provides the best possible way to keep learning and prepare for the next school year. I am sure you are also looking forward to the school summer holidays and I hope you will manage to get a good break.

School closure update

Following the government’s announcement regarding school closures we regret to inform you that the UTC will be closed to most students from Monday 23 March. The government have said that students who may still attend school from Monday are those of ‘key workers and vulnerable students.’ They have said they will identify these groups later today. We understand that no exams will take place this academic year but are awaiting further information.

We have already put together a comprehensive programme of virtual learning, details of which will be sent to you before the weekend. This will include a timetable of lessons for all students, several weeks’ lesson content and email access to teachers. We have also already arranged for free school meals’ students to receive vouchers for a midday meal.

Further information will follow tomorrow once we have received further guidance from the government and exam boards later this evening.
