Sixth Form Curriculum

There is a strong focus in the Energy Coast UTC’s curriculum on local employers, specifically in the energy, engineering and construction industries. Students’ learning is built around projects provided by employers, reflecting real-life challenges that those businesses face.

Regular work experience, ‘live’ employer-defined projects, apprenticeships and mentorship from employer representatives are integrated into the curriculum to support student development.ere is a strong focus in the Energy Coast UTC’s curriculum on local employers, specifically in the energy, engineering and construction industries. KS5 - Post 16 Students

Post-16 students will engage in Intermediate, Advanced or Higher learning depending upon their attainment and progression plans.

Higher Learning - 2 Year Course

A-LEVEL or AS LEVEL (Dependant on GCSE results)

  • Mathematics
  • Science (Applied Science, Physics or Chemistry)

 BTEC

  • Subsidiary Diploma in Business.
  • Extended Diploma in Engineering or Construction and the Built Environment.

 Other Studies

  • Enrichment (i.e. leadership and entrepreneurial programmes)

The Head of Key Stage 5 , working alongside a dedicated pastoral team of Form Tutors, some of whome are PLM's, will ensure students are receiving appropriate and timely guidance regarding moving into combinations of apprenticeships, employment or onto University. All of our progression pathways are mapped against the requirements of local and national employers in order to ensure our students have the required skills and attitudes to thrive beyond college.
